Dr. Seuss, Fancy Nancy, Fun with Trains!!!

Dr. Seuss!! Love it!!! I have been patiently waiting for someone to order a Dr. Seuss cake! It was so much fun. Yes...it is supposed to be leaning...Topsy Turvy as it is called. So much fun!

Is this not just the cutest thing ever? The customer requested the cake stand and I am so happy she did. I decorated it with scrapbooking paper and cute ribbon. It added so much to the entire cake!

Beautiful little 6 inch cake topped with a tea kettle made of rice treats covered in fondant! So much fun!

Again, I got to make cupcakes!

We will just call this one the Train Track Cake. I made the 3D fondant train to match the train pictured on the party plates. This sweet little boy is also a friend of my youngest son. They have been together in Sunday School since they were only months old. Colin also has two beautiful little sisters who I also got to make cakes for this year. What a blessing to be a part of the celebration of three children this year!

Well, that all she wrote! It was a great week. I loved all the bright colors. And I got to make two cake silhouettes that I have not tried in the past...true topsy turby and also the hourglass shape of the Fancy Nancy. I also discovered that I love cup cake stands! I will be purchasing several of these and adding them to my price list. 

It is so hard to believe I am coming up on my one year anniversary of making cakes. July 30, 2010 was the first time I made a fondant cake for my baby boy's first birthday. As I look back at all the wonderful cakes I have had the opportunity to make and all of little kiddos that those cakes made happy....I am truly blessed. I have met so many new friends and grown closer to friends I have known for years. Making cakes was not in my plan...or the foreseeable future, but God had a different plan. And boy does He know what He is doing! I give Him all the praise, honor and glory!!!!

My First Wedding!!!

My first wedding cake!!! My first wedding cake!!! My first wedding cake!!! I feel like I have graduated to a new level. I am so very excited. Weddings are so very special to me. So finally being able to create a centerpiece for a bride was a meaningful time in my "cake baking career...hobby".

Simple, clean, and elegant! Need I say more? I fell in love with this cake. When the bride first told me what she had in mind, I was a little disappointed. I mean, I love loud, busy cakes. As I was taking pictures of it, I was so proud. Simply beautiful. I sure hope she loved it as much as I did.

Skull and bones anyone? The skull is rice treats covered in fondant atop a 9 inch cake. I am not a huge fan of skulls, but I thought it turned out pretty good. I hear the birthday boy liked it...and that is all that matters!

From skulls to poodles...what variety. That is why I love what I do. There is something new every week with a new challenge. I love it! This cake was just so darn cute. Sweet Kennedy has been in Sunday School with my little boy since they were only months old, so I was very excited to make a cake for her. And trust me, she is as adorable as the cake.

I even made cute little mini cupcakes to match. They were so much fun....simply bite sized!

Pokemon...Black and White!!! I made a cake for this little boy's mom and dad earlier in the year so I think this makes my first completely family. I love knowing that the cakes I put so much time and love into can become a family tradition! As you can imagine this one was made with great excitement. And he came by a few times to make sure I was getting all the details correct. The little characters are plastic...there was just no way I would have been able to do them justice.

Cuteness

Another Princess Castle! I just adored this one. I thought the purple would be a nice change from the usual pink. I think I am really starting to get the hang of this castle thing. Of course I am sure you have figured it out by now...it is a "Princess and the Frog" castle. The little froggies are 100% edible and made out of fondant.

Aren't they just too cute. Just like little Miss. Brianna. She is our neighbor and my boys just adore her.

Now...Cars! That is something I know a little about. I mean...I have only seen the movie a thousand times or so! This cake was an interesting project.

Fondant just doesn't stretch and bend the way I needed it too to cover those inside areas. It was a little tricky, but I got it figured out and was so happy with the finished product.

Nice and clean. Love it! And .... just in case you were wondering...I did not make the cars on top. They were purchased. I thought it would be a nice little treat for him to get to have the cars to play with. My little boy did not get to see this one as a finished product, but I am sure when he does it will be on the list for his next birthday.
